WORTH COUNTY – Worth county law enforcement caught a Minnesota woman with meth, cocaine, a pipe and plastic baggies after a recent rural traffic stop.
On December 19, 2018 at 3:19 AM, a Worth County Deputy conducted a traffic stop east of Wheelerwood Avenue on 510th Street for failing to stop for a stop sign. The driver, identified as Encarnacion Chon Garcia of Austin, Minnesota, was arrested for Operating without Valid Driver’s License, a simple misdemeanor. A passenger of the vehicle, identified as 49-year-old Melissa Kay Root of Austin, Minnesota, was arrested on a Mower County Minnesota warrant for probation violation.
A search of the vehicle was conducted with the assistance of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. Root was found in possession of cocaine, methamphetamines, a pipe used to ingest methamphetamines, and numerous plastic baggies.
Garcia and Root were transported to the Worth County Jail.
Root was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense (Cocaine) an aggravated misdemeanor, Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine) an aggravated misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a simple misdemeanor.
