Mason City woman facing felony insurance fraud charge says she’s not guilty

DES MOINES – A Mason City woman facing several felony counts of insurance fraud and felony theft says she’s not guilty.

Amber Marie Griffin, age 34, of Mason City was recently charged with four counts of Insurance Fraud – Presenting False Information (Class D Felony) and Theft 2nd Degree (Class D Felony) following an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau.

The charges against Griffin stem from an investigation that began in February 2018. It is alleged that Griffin submitted multiple fraudulent insurance claims to her insurance company seeking reimbursement through her insurance policy.

On October 29, 2018, a Cerro Gordo County warrant was issued for the Griffin’s arrest. On October 30, 2018, Griffin turned herself in to Cerro Gordo County authorities. She later posted a $25,000 bond and was released.

Court records indicate Griffin has entered a not-guilty plea in the case and will face a jury trial on March 12, 2019 in Cerro Gordo county.  A pre-trial conference is scheduled for February 25.
