Garner woman loses life in auto crash

GARNER – A Garner woman was killed in an auto crash Monday afternoon in Hancock county.

The accident took place at 1:30 PM, Monday, December 17 at the intersection of Highway 18 and Highway 69. just west of Garner city limits.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 2017 Ford Fusion driven by 73-year-old Lois Ann Eenhius of Garner was leaving a business drive and attempted to turn left onto Highway 18. The Fusion struck head-on a westbound 2015 Mack Semi driven by 22-year-old Conner James Hazelton of Pipestone, Minnesota. The semi then crossed the highway center line and the trailer attached to the Mack was struck in the rear by a 2006 Nissan Murano driven by 47-year-old Andrea Michelle Young of Garner.

As a result of the crashes, Young was fatally injured. Eenhius was injured and transported by Garner Ambulance to Mercy North Iowa in Mason City. Hazelton was not hurt.

Garner police assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
