Chief Operating Officer of Waukee Schools, Eric Rose, arrested on felony charges

WAUKEE, IOWA – Waukee Community School District’s suspended Chief Operating Officer, Eric Rose, has been arrested on felony charges after a state audit uncovered alleged tens-of-thousands of dollars in mis-spending and doctored employee time cards.

Rose, age 50, was arrested in Dallas county Saturday.  He faces two charges of soliciting to commit a felony and one count of felonious misconduct in office, WHOTV reports.

Last week, a state audit named Rose when the report “identified $130,244.98 of improper disbursements and disbursements which were not in the best interest of taxpayers. The improper disbursements identified resulted from altered timecards and timecard errors.  The $128,676.56 of costs identified which were not in the taxpayers’ best interest include$83,234.08 spent on retreats for the District’s administrators, $17,539.47 of purchases made with procurement cards, and $27,903.01 for lounge chairs and furniture purchased for the Superintendent’s office.”

The Waukee School District responded by suspending Rose even as the Waukee School Board announced they were “gathering the supporting documents to refute how these purchases were attributed by the Auditor’s Office.”

Rose already bonded out of jail.

Media reports indicate Rose had a school district snow blower at his house and had district employees run his errands.
