Former manager at Dollar General store in Charles City strikes deal in theft case

CHARLES CITY – A man who worked as the manager of the Charles City Dollar General store has struck a deal after allegedly stealing from the business.

On February 15, 2017 at about 2:30 PM, Charles City police were called to the Dollar General Store, located at 700 Hulin Street. They had taken a report that a person there was stealing. As a result of the report and investigation, officers arrested 32-year-old Joseph Raveling of Charles City, who was the General Manager at Dollar General.

Raveling was taken to the county jail on a charge of second degree theft. According to KCHA Radio, he stole in excess of $5,300 in deposits beginning in December of 2016 through January.

Raveling entered a plea of not guilty last year and was to go to trial.

However, court records show Raveling now awaits sentencing on February 22 in the case after a guilty plea was entered on December 4.

Are you talking the store or the whole town of Charles city??????

They treat their employees like crap. They force the managers to work massive amounts of overtime for no extra pay. The guy was probably just trying to get paid for his work.

They cannot keep a manager in that store. very bad place to work.
