The police are not, omnipresent. Would you commit a crime in front of one, most criminals won’t either.

WTF happened anyway. Why no law enforcement updates. Mason City always hides the truth from the citizens. They never did release the name of Nudy Rudy and he was an adult.

This is a railroad matter, you’ll be lucky to get the guys name – much less what actually happened.

for all you complainers out there, sure hope your fine wasn’t to high the last time you broke the law and got arrested!!! ya I know you didn’t deserve it.

down grade all the law enforcement officers you morons, next time your house is getting broken into, you wife is getting raped, someone is trying to take you kids and etc who you going to call, another one of the idiots that just posted here.

you know the police do not prevent crimes. Right? They show up after and take notes. Your personal safety is your problem.the police have stated in public that their job is not to protect you. I’d call me 12 he or me 9mms if someone broke into my home or tried to take ANYONE. you call the police after YOU or another RESPONSIBLE citizen stops the threat. Think of them as a social cleanup crew. Citizens with cc w probably stop more bad guys from successfully commuting crimes than police. They are just human beings they aren’t crime predicting magic entities. Waiting for the cops to save you is a death wish. A cc w is cheap, it’s your right and it’s a good idea.

Two gunshots after a car alarm went off last night. Southeast side of mason. You guys act like we only have shootings when the news reports it. Shooting someone in the back may look like attempted murder. However things happen very fast and your eyes brain and extremities may not sync well under stress. He may have pulled that trigger the second Our upstanding citizen made the choice to run. The officer may well have been aiming at his chest and the unfortunate happened. It seems like mason city has to many violent criminals and meth addicts with illegal weapons the will to break into homes or trespass on private property, maybe responsible citizens need to start carrying concealed. I have a feeling of the meth heads and retards had any idea we love in a ccw stand your ground castle state we would have less stupid criminal behavior in town. Too bad meth heads can’t read. where’s our boy on this comment section? The one with the Ebonics and ignorant points of view. I forgot his screen name.

Sounds like you’re looking for yourself lol

after reading the posts I thought that all the idiots were locked up, maybe they are, posting from jail when Bubba doesn’t need them here you are criticizing them and you don’t know the whole story. Im sure there will be a press release as soon and a complete investigation is done, why release bits and pieces now, so that all you idiots can make your own story?? until you are there don’t judge blame on people. I was in law enforcement for over 25 years, I have been there!!! ever had a 12 guage with a deer slug in the action pointed at you from 10 feet, I have. most of you idiots would have to go home and change your undies. I hate assholes like you that put us down when u haven’t the slightest idea of what happened.

Thank you for your service, I am glad you got to retire safely from that stressful, dangerous and at times very ungrateful job. I do believe you are reading too much into the posts below. At least I’m not seeing any critique against law enforcement in general, but then again, I guess I’m just an asshole and an idiot, so I could be wrong 😉

Someone said he was shot in the back. Does anyone know it that is true and what was the guy doing there? Anybody know?

The Shadow, knows!

It is hard to understand that the railroad is still allowed to have these private Mercenaries. Mind you, these goons are not your typical Mall cops. They have actual police powers, and their use of deadly force is judged as such in a court of law, even though they’re not sworn in to serve the general public and while being on the payroll of – and loyal to – a private corporation.

This is the way things are done in third world s***holes, wether that’s Africa today or America 150 years ago. It is time for us to Let it go.

I so much appreciate your thoughtful and well reasoned comments. Thank you for posting.

The person that was shot, was not in a Mall, he was trespassing on private property. We all know, it is illegal to be on RR property, for whatever their reason. And, we don’t know the reason behind the shooting. You and your Einstein intelligence jump on every wagon that comes around. Under the same circumstances, how would you handle someone on your private property? Oh, I forgot, you don’t have any!

can you kill someone for trespass?

O don’t know about the railroad but yes. We live in a castle state. If someone breaks into your home you can shoot them or best them or whatever you need to do to stop them from being a threat. We also have stand your ground which gives us the same rights in public. We also have laws preventing the family of suchsuch violent trash from using in civil court. For now we have those common sense laws democrats will eventually try to erode our right to self defense. Because they are evil.

If the guy didn’t have a gun, then he wasn’t a threat to use lethal means against. Especially if it is true he was shot in the back trying to leave.

A mall is also private property you feeble minded dimwit. As for trespassers on my property, my first reaction wouldn’t be to shoot them in the back, although come to think of it, I may be willing to consider an exception, especially for you. Cleaning out the gene pool so to speak

Don’t worry, he’s way to old to get it up (without a little blue pill) anymore. I’m fearful the damage may already be done.

How do you know how old the poster is? It sounds like you are the one who knows what a little blue pill is for. Assholes like you are nothing but target practice.

Is that an anonymous threat? Nobody has to worry about getting shot on your private property, you don’t have any.

Let’s start off with the qualifications of a Railroad Special Agent. Special Agents must have graduated from an accredited Police academy, and presently meet certification requirements to be commissioned in their work location. Some departments require candidates to have one year experience in a public law enforcement agency or military police. A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, police science, public administration or a related field is recommended.

So they are hardly the goons as you say.

Railroad police are certified state law enforcement officers with investigative and arrest powers both on and off railroad property in most states. They also have interstate law enforcement authority pursuant to federal law. (Section 1704 of the U.S. Crime Control Act of 1990). They work along side of local, State, and Federal agencies.

In 2014 the Union Pacific Police Department achieved accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) for complying with the highest law enforcement standards. The department renewed it’s commitment to these standards and achieved reccreditation in 2017. Only 17 percent of U.S. law enforcement agencies have earned CALEA accreditation.

One can assume that not all the evidence is in, including video from cameras on locomotives and other security cameras (perhaps a dash camera from the Special Agent’s vehicle or a body camera, if worn).

Judging from news stories from across the country, Special Agents are required to stem the tide of trespassing, thefts, and criminal activity on railroad property. Local departments, good as they are, do not have the time, or training to do the job alone.

Thank you for taking the time to write up this informational post! I guess the problem is that railroad employees have actual law enforcement status. I’m sure this was necessary when the republic was young, but today it is a total anachronism as railroads are no different from other companies, and like them, they can make do with ordinary rent-a-cops to deal with trespassers.

It may not seem like a big difference between an actual LEO and a security guard with a gun, but legally speaking there is a world of a difference. We give LEOs preferential treatment in court. We pretty much have to do this as their job is hard and dangerous enough as it is, but we are well overdue to revoke this status from employees of private corporations.

This could have been a student walking home from school. Quiet Zone sounds peacefull. Call like it is. Shooting Range

So how many people got shot before the quiet Zone

Just another local POS trespassing with a gun

Hey ! Once we get ripped off on that hotel five or six more times things will get better. you ever think if our county had a decent court system violent offenders repeat felons and hopeless meth addicts would actually get real time? It’s amazing we love in a place where our of thinks the goal is to write duo tickets and bust teenagers for things that aren’t even illegal in half the country.

Holy shit. I have no idea if I agree with you or not. Why don’t you proofread before you post???

Why isn’t more information being revealed by authorities. Was this an illegal alien that was found riding the rails? Or, was this a local up to no good? Why the injuries to the railroad officer? What caused his “minor” injuries?

We the people have a right to know this NOW. Is the public at any risk do to illegals traveling through the area? This is happening all over America right now. Theft and breaking and entering is common as illegals roam the country. I am concerned!

As usual the authorities cover up a lot of stuff. No need for secrecy!

The question should. Be why was the guy shot in the back?

If this person is not an immigrant here illegally, you are going to look like the idiot you are.

Hey dummy, did you bother reading what the person said in the post? You look like the idiot here.

you know what I heard???? SHEEP

Was he wearing hip boots?

Heard he was shot in the back while running away. Wtf.

Wtf, that’s one way to stop em!
