Three arrested after cops smell weed at Chickasaw county house

NEW HAMPTON – Three people – including two from Charles City – were arrested after police smelled the notorious odor of marijuana at a house while searching for a wanted man.

On Thursday November 1, 2018, at approximately 10:06 PM, the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office stopped at the residence 109 Water Street in Fredericksburg to check for a male subject with an active arrest warrant. While speaking with a female subject at the residence, deputies detected the odor of marijuana and secured the residence. The homeowner arrived at the residence and gave deputies consent to search the residence. During the search the following items were found: marijuana, methamphetamine, a large quantity of a simulated controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. The following people were charged and subsequently arrested:

CRAUN, JACOB DEAN
Jacob (Jake) Dean Craun, age 23 of the same address – Possession of a Simulated Controlled Substance (being passed as Methamphetamine) with Intent to Deliver (more than 5 grams) (‘B’ Felony) – Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (less than 5 grams) (‘C’ Felony) – Gathering/Promoting a Dwelling for the Use of Controlled Substances (‘D’ Felony) – Possession of Marijuana (Serious Misdemeanor) – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor)

MASON, MEGAN NICOLE
Megan Nicole Mason, age 31 of Charles City – Possession of a Simulated Controlled Substance (being passed as Methamphetamine) with Intent to Deliver (more than 5 grams) (‘B’ Felony) – Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (less than 5 grams) (‘C’ Felony) – Gathering/Promoting a Dwelling for the Use of Controlled Substances (‘D’ Felony) – Possession of Marijuana-2nd Offense (Serious Misdemeanor) – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor)

Lentenze Keon Farris, age 27 of Charles City – Possession of a Simulated Controlled Substance (being passed as Methamphetamine) with Intent to Deliver (more than 5 grams) (‘B’ Felony) – Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (less than 5 grams) (‘C’ Felony) – Gathering/Promoting a Dwelling for the Use of Controlled Substances (‘D’ Felony) – Possession of Marijuana (Serious Misdemeanor) – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor) Farris was also arrested on sight for an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear on prior charge in Chickasaw County.

Craun, Mason, and Farris were arrested on November 5, 2018 and transported to the Chickasaw County Jail, where they made their initial appearances before a magistrate judge. All three are currently being held on a $41,300 cash or corporate surety bond.
The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Chickasaw County Attorney’s Office.
