Man seriously hurt when struck by car in Mason City

MASON CITY – A man was seriously injured while walking along a Mason City roadway Wednesday night.

Mason City police say that on November 7, 2018 at 10:47 PM, the officers responded to 19th street SW and S. Eisenhower for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. A 43-year old male subject was walking northbound on the east side of the road when he was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Jay Paulsen, age 45 year of Mason City. The pedestrian received serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy hospital; the driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

The name of the pedestrian is not being released at this time, pending notification of family members.

The case remains under investigation.

Assisting was the Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s officer and the Mason City Fire Department.
