AMES, Iowa – Iowa State sophomore guard Lindell Wigginton has been named to the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 list as announced this morning on ESPN’s Sports Center.
Wigginton, who has been named Preseason All-Big 12 and to the Naismith Trophy Watch List, returns for his second season at ISU as the Big 12’s top returning scorer. The Dartmouth, Nova Scotia native averaged a Cyclone freshman record 16.7 points per game last season. He joined Kevin Durant (Texas) as the only freshmen in Big 12 history to average 16.5 points while making 65 three-pointers at a 40 percent clip.
The Wooden Award watch lists are published throughout the season. Players not on the current list are eligible for inclusion in later lists.
Wigginton and the Cyclones open the 2018-19 season tonight against Alabama State. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with Cyclones.tv broadcasting.
