Lincoln School
MASON CITY – A Veterans Day Celebration will be held at Lincoln school in Mason City.

On November 9, 2018, students at Lincoln Intermediate School will be celebrating Veterans Day by having an assembly honoring those who have served in our military during war-time and peace-time. The assembly, which starts at 1:00 PM is open to any community members and their spouses that have served in the military. A special invitation is extended to parents, grandparents and siblings of our Lincoln Intermediate student body and staff. Lincoln Intermediate just asks that if you plan to attend, please contact the school office so that we can be have adequate seating. Family members that wish to attend may either sit with their child, or sit in chairs in the reserved seating section on the Lincoln Intermediate gymnasium floor.

The assembly will feature a special speaker, Carla Miller. She will be sharing a theme of “Being a Parent of a Child in the Military”. The entire student body will be singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America”. A video will be presented that will describe the origins of Veterans Day, and will give the background of the Armistice treaty that was signed 100 years ago this year. We also have a special video montage of several parents of students currently in the military describing their career in the armed services. The conclusion of the assembly will feature a rifle salute given by members of our own Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and taps performed by our Lincoln Intermediate trumpet players.
