MASON CITY – Newman Catholic School in Mason City will host its 23rd annual God’s Portion Day beginning on Sunday, November 4th. It is the school’s largest fundraiser.

Organizers hope to raise at least $300,000 from the family-friendly event. That money will come from raffles, live and silent auction bidding, kid’s fun alley, class baskets, bake sale and donations from local businesses and community members.

This year’s raffles include a $10,000 cash prize, an alumni raffle, farm fresh beef and a holiday cheer wagon. All raffle drawings will be drawn after the live auction.

There will be activities for children ages four through fifth grade from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and while the children are playing, their parents can spend the day bidding.

A total of 291 items will be included in the silent and live auctions. All will be auctioned in the high school gym over the course of the day. The live auction begins at 11:00 am and continues until all items are sold. Unique auction items as a brand new 2017 Jeep renegade, one week Florida vacation stay, Shrimp boil for a party of 25, tree house party highlight the live auction.

The silent auction begins at 10:30 and continues until 3:00 p.m. New items are brought out for display and bidding every 30 minutes.

All silent and live auction activities will be at the school’s gymnasium.

Each grade from kindergarten through twelfth grade will have a class basket that will be auctioned off during the live auction.

Why can’t people see the good in Education no matter of Religion, Catholic school, Lutheran, public etc. they all have fundraisers for the schools and different activities. Those with negative comments must be cold hearted, atheist or have no religion in there life. We prayer for you.

…and they do this “fundraiser” on a Sunday???

Of course……… All churches do their major fund raising each and every Sunday. Thats when the collection plate makes its rounds thru the crowd of faithful followers.

And yet jesus was against money exchange at the church….. God was very specific on not having idols, or simbols for him, or any others dieties or worship. The saints are against gods teachings. Crucifix, jesus statues, ect are all idols.

Nice to have a Biblical Scholar posting here. May I suggest that The story takes place in The Temple, not a Church. You might want to consider capitalizing Jesus when you post your next indepth analysis.

I will pray for you…..

25 percent of those kids are probably already questioning if their parents are telling them the truth or not. Another 50 percent will have chosen to engage in pre marital sex, and drugs before graduating from highschool. That school is probably looking at its last major generation of enrollment. The internet has made it very easy to find out how all major religions are nonsense.

There are way more people that believe in a religion then that do not. You are still in the minority.

The way Mc community school is going Newman and Clear Lake will be just fine.

If anything… social media should reveal God himself in all its shenanigans

In my lifetime, I hope all of this fairytale nonsense is seen for what it really is.

People like you will really enjoy it in HELL!

People like me already know hell doesn’t exist. Your fear mongering is not working anymore. Your churchs harbor sex criminals, and spew hate. I may be the minority for now, but the time is coming where religion is shunned out of society, and seen for what it really is. A scam used to control, and manipulate which leads to major problems with mental health later on in life.
