Police say verbal threats leveled against Osage school; two juveniles face felony charges

OSAGE – Police say verbal threats were leveled against an Osage school and two juveniles face felony charges.

According to Osage police, in the later evening of Friday, October 12, 2018, an alleged threat was made known to Osage Community School professional staff. The alleged threat involved violence with firearms against Osage Community School students and staff. The alleged threat was made by two Osage Middle School students and the likelihood exists that they will be suspended. Based upon the investigation thus far, the alleged threat was made verbally. An email notifying parents of the Osage School District was sent by School Administration Sunday evening.

The two juveniles were taken into custody and taken to juvenile detention. They were both charged with Terroristic Threats, a Class D Felony. A detention hearing was held Monday, October 15, 2018, at the Mitchell County Courthouse and the juveniles will continue to be held in juvenile detention.

While charges have been filed, the investigation is ongoing by the Osage Police Department and Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office with the cooperation of the Osage Community School District and Mitchell County Attorney’s Office.
