Henkel Construction

MASON CITY — The Cerro Gordo County Health Department today announced its Workplace Wellness award winners.

It is with pleasure that the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health presents the third annual Workplace Wellness Diamond Award to Sukup Manufacturing Company. The Workplace Wellness Awards Program is a partnership between the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health, the Mason City Chamber of Commerce, and the Healthy-Mason City Worksite Committee to recognize and support local employers in their quest to support employee health and well-being.

In its third year, the program continued to receive a number of quality applications from local organizations all committed to employee wellness. Sukup Manufacturing Company will be recognized for their outstanding efforts surrounding workplace wellness at the Mason City Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 4th.

In addition to the Diamond Award, the following local businesses are also awarded recognition for their strong employee-wellness initiatives:

Robin Anderson of the MC Chamber grabbed the bronze medal for being such a gracious host at her workplace, 9 North Federal Avenue, which is tax-exempt and also built by taxpayers. Just pay your dues and you can go inside.

“This Awards Program continues to provide great opportunities to highlight all the wonderful efforts local employers are implementing to support employee health and well-being. The core concepts align nicely with the goals Healthy-Mason City and the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health have in place for our community,” states Kelli Gerdes, Health Promotion Manager for the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health. “The great partnerships between the sponsor organizations continue to bring credibility to the program and hopefully encourage more and more businesses to try innovative approaches to improve employee health and well-being.”

The awards program is funded in part by a grant from the University of Iowa’s Business Leadership Network. This grant also helps provide educational learning opportunities for workplace safety and well-being. For more information, contact Kelli Gerdes at 641-421-9312.

So whats the connection between Cerro Gordo Health Department and Sukup? Did they move operations out of Frankin County into CG? Are they MC Chamber members? Members of MC Worksite Committee? Whats the “in”??

FYI little buckaroo, the Sukup family and their company recieved this award because they installed an onsite medical care facilty for thier employees.

“Sukup and Mercy Medical Center North Iowa came to an agreement where Sukup provides the space and equipment and Mercy provides medical staff.
The new clinic includes four exam rooms, a complete laboratory and room for future growth. Mercy employee Amber Marzen, registered nurse, staffs the clinic Monday through Friday
and Nurse Practitioner Anna Clausen is on site every Tuesday.”

How many companies do you know of that do that?

How many companies? Well back in the 40’s and 50’s, quite a few. I know the railroads had them in large towns.

Steel mills like Inland and USS Gary works had them up until the late 80’s (they also had their own fire departments, police, and ambulances).

And several townships had their own clinics that covered everything from medical to mental health to dental, all free.

More than 40 of the top 100 Fortune list of 100 best companies have on-site health care facilities (many however at their HQ); Quiktrip, and Mars (candies), for example.

A lot of people that post on this site talk out of their ass, because their head knows better. One thing that is scary, is the fact that you possibly have the right to vote.

Creepy list. How did Robin make it. We all want to know. Who’s arm did she grab, we know Matt still has pain in that arm, might be permanent. I hope he’s ok and not scarred physicaly. Just the thought of robin grbbing Matt and trying to get him to go into a secret room for Lord knows what activites is frightening, she should get an award just for her sordid imagination…

The only one that has a butt issue with Robin is you. You have made the same comments before and you have a butt obsession.

Uhm….. how did robin make the list when it looks like she literally helped choose whos on it? Just local bs fluff from those in power. Making themselves look like they are actually doing something. “The Workplace Wellness Awards Program is a PARTNERSHIP between the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health, the Mason City CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, and the Healthy-Mason City Worksite Committee to recognize and support local employers in their quest to support employee health and well-being.”
