RURAL MASON CITY – An Osage man is behind bars Wednesday after he refused to stop his van for police and fled at a high rate of speed before he abandoned the vehicle and tried to run through a cornfield.
On September 19, 2018, at about 12:21 AM, a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputy turned around to attempt to make a traffic stop on B20, near the intersection of Mallard Avenue. The registered owner of the van was showing a barred license status in Iowa. The vehicle drove away at a high rate of speed, a vehicle pursuit began, and other deputies came to the area to assist. The pursuit lasted several miles, reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour a few times. The pursuit lasted several minutes and covered several miles in Northern Cerro Gordo County and Southern Worth County. Worth County deputies and an Iowa State Patrol Trooper assisted with the pursuit. The vehicle eventually left the roadway on Highway 9, west of Hanlontown, and went into a cornfield. The driver, Eric William Jensen, age 37 of Osage, was taken into custody after a very short foot pursuit in the corn field. No injuries were sustained as a result of the pursuit. Two Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs Office vehicles received minor damage, and the 2002 Chrysler Town and County van sustained front end damage from driving into the ditch and field.
Jensen was charged with felony eluding, a class D Felony; possession of controlled substance 3rd or subsequent offense, a class D Felony; driving while barred, an aggrevated misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; and driving while suspended, a simple misdemeanor.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Worth County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol.

So many STRANGE things about the English language…Such as the fact that the words “INquiring” and “ENquiring” are COMPLETELY interchangeable; i.e. they both have the SAME definition. For example, there is a well-known RAG ( seek the definition of the word “rag” and how it relates to “news” papers that are written by and for the brain-dead). That rag could change its name to INquiry” and the MEANING of their name would not change. Well, except for the brain-dead soap opera lovers who would think their beloved rag was GONE…even tho NOTHING had changed except the name.

2. Which L.E, entity actually captured him? I’m pretty sure the entity(s) that nabbed him would appreciate being credited with the actual apprehension of this bad boy IN ADDITION to just being listed for participating in the chase.

A simple five-minute call to the C.G.C.S.O.. would have provided details that would have made this story MUCH more informative.
