NIACC’s Thesing-Ritter selected to NFCA all-American team

MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore Morgan Thesing-Ritter has been selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association NJCAA Division II all-American team.
Thesing-Ritter was a second-team outfield selection.

Thesing-Ritter, a sophomore from Eau Claire, Wis., hit .451 (74 hits) with eight home runs, seven triples and seven doubles for the Lady Trojans, who were 19-30 under first-year coach Dan Gratz. Thesing-Ritter also had 46 stolen bases and 43 RBIs in her sophomore campaign.

Thesing-Ritter, who was a first-team NFCA Midwest all-region selection, is NIACC’s career leader in hits (156), stolen bases (86) and runs scored (106). She also ranks second in career batting average (.471), triples (12) and at-bats (331).

Thesing-Ritter is the first Lady Trojan to earn NFCA all-American honors since outfielder Kendall Cornick was a first-team pick in 2016.

Thesing-Ritter was one of 12 ICCAC players to be selected on the two all-American teams.

First-team picks from the ICCAC were DMACC’s Molly Jacobsen (pitcher), Iowa Central’s Alexis Egan (outfield) and Kirkwood’s Monika Bevans (catcher), Rachel Stewart (infield), Lauren Kuch (outfield) and DoniRae Mayhew (utility).

Earning second-team honors from the ICCAC were Thesing-Ritter, Kirkwood’s Natalie Halvorson (pitcher), Iowa Central’s Cheyanne Andersen (outfield) and DMACC’s Bailey Richards (catcher), Mia Ruther (infield) and Morgan Nealey (designated player).
