New trial sought by North Iowa sex offender convicted of crimes against child

GARNER – A man previously convicted of sex crimes in at least two North Iowa counties and now guilty of new charges of sex crimes against a child wants a new trial.

Chad Bonner, listed as an inmate in the Winnebago county jail in Forest City, was charged after an investigation in Winnebago county with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of indecent contact with a child, both felonies. The crimes are over 10 years old, records show. The charges come after an investigation by the state’s Division of Criminal Investigation and Winnebago county authorities. He was arrested June 28, 2017. He entered a not-guilty plea but after an April trial, was found guilty.

Bonner has requested a new trial, records show. No date has been set.

Bonner was convicted in Cerro Gordo county in 1991 of third-degree sexual abuse. He was also convicted in Winnebago county in 2010 with dissemination of obscene material and sexual exploitation of a minor.

It’s ok our department of corrections said so as the treatment they offer provides jobs, spend tax dollars on keeping these predators out of prison ! It’s working great except that it doesn’t work. So then they say only if we had more money it would work. We just need more lazy state workers to not do there jobs and these kids would be safe. The tax payer has been taken to the cleaners because the legislature doesnt take the time to understand how much money is wasted on poor results based on false statistics.

another candidate for balls nailed to wooden table, handed a dull rusty razor blade and table set on fire.
