RURAL FLOYD COUNTY – At least three people died in a two-car accident Friday evening in rural Floyd county.
The accident took place on Friday, April 20, 2018 just after 5 PM at 210th Street and Woodside Avenue in rural Floyd county. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 28-year-old Jacob Allen Mahnesmith of Nashua was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound on 210th Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign. His pickup then struck a 2002 GMC Sierra pickup, the driver of that vehicle has not yet been named.
As a result of the collision, Mahnesmith was killed. A passenger in his vehicle, 28-year-old Shane Allen Wiltse of Charles City, was also killed. Thomas John Parcher, age 29 of Marble Rock, was a passenger in Dodge Ram pickup and was injured.
The un-named driver of the GMC Sierra pickup was also killed in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation at this time. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Floyd county sheriff’s office, Charles City police and fire, AMR Ambulance, Mercy Air Med AND Nashua police.
