MASON CITY – A Mason City cell phone store was burglarized this week.
On Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at approximately 3:22 a.m., Mason City Police Officers responded to a burglary alarm at Verizon Wireless, 4063 4th Street SW. Upon arrival, officers discovered that forced entry had been made to the building.
Store employees were notified to respond to assist at the scene. Several electronic items were taken in the burglary. Quick thinking officers put the alert out to other law enforcement agencies in our area in case other Verizon stores were targeted. A suspect vehicle was also identified as part of the investigation.
Four juvenile suspects were located and detained in Albert Lea, Minnesota, near a Verizon Wireless store located there. The Mason City Police Department is working with authorities in Minnesota in this ongoing investigation. At this time, we believe that the items taken from the Mason City Verizon Wireless store were recovered at the time the suspects were located in Albert Lea.
The juveniles are facing felony charges in Iowa for burglary and ongoing criminal conduct. All four have referred to Cerro Gordo County Juvenile Court services.
