State Patrol to participate in six-state drug impaired driving enforcement campaign: “Driving High? Kiss Your License Goodbye!”

Iowa State Patrol

DES MOINES – Driving high? Kiss your license goodbye, the Iowa State Patrol says, in announcing their participation in a six-state impaired driving enforcement campaign.

Like drunk driving, drugged driving is impaired driving, which means it is illegal in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. Whether the drug is obtained legally or illegally, driving while drug-impaired poses a threat to the driver, vehicle passengers and other road users.

Between April 20 and April 22, the Iowa State Patrol will join participating law enforcement from Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma in “Driving High? Kiss Your License Goodbye!” – a six-state Drug Impaired Driving enforcement campaign to put an end to drug impaired driving.

It is never safe to drive when impaired. This not only means refraining from drunk driving, but also from drug-impaired driving. If you think driving while high won’t affect you, you are wrong; it has been proven that THC – the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects – slows reaction times, impairs cognitive performance and makes it more difficult for drivers to keep a steady position in their lane. The bottom line is this: It doesn’t matter what term is used, if a person is high, stoned, wasted or drunk, he or she is impaired. Driving while impaired by any substance is illegal and can be deadly to the driver and other road users.

Many if not all of these troopers make north of 100.000 a year
have to pay for that some how

I can’t think of a better way then to have impaired drivers pay for these salaries.

Maybe they should shut down the meth manufactures in Iowa. Dealers and users are after the fact – The rich bitches that make the drugs usually pay off the officials in their area and are protected. Just saying it could happen or did rip van winkee just wake up?

How are they going to test drivers for prescription drugs? Does the troopers training tell them to sit at Walgreens drive thru ? Are the troopers, sheriffs and cops tested for prescriptions or any drug?

We all know what the bac limit is, and it can be easily determined. I have never heard how they test for anything else, or what the acceptable limit is.

These troopers all have medical degrees they can also detect cancer.

Mike F. better watch out. They are coming for him.

Put all the druggers in jail where they belong and there will be no democrats left to vote.

So prepare to be stopped and searched at a roadside “safety checkpoint”. I remember when citizens still had rights…

While a good idea, 2 days of enforcement trying to make a point, is not long enough.

yes, this is really not just one of those fund raisers for the state, right
