PLYMOUTH, IOWA – On April 7th, Plymouth residents participated in a focus group workshop as part of the Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program. The focus groups are part of an input-gathering process to identify transportation needs and opportunities for enhancements in Plymouth.
During the focus groups, participants identified places on a map where it is difficult to travel around Plymouth. They also identified locations considered assets.
Some of the major needs and opportunities that emerged were calming traffic on county road S56, improving sidewalks, reconstructing the bridge on Main Street, and adding recreation equipment to the East side of town.
Things identified as assets to the community were the gazebo, the area’s peaceful rural beauty, good access to the river for tubing and fishing, the footpath, and the Old School Park.
Community residents can view the photos that represent the assets and barriers identified by visiting the Community Visioning website at www.communityvisioning.org. At the bottom of the page under the heading “Transportation Maps,” click on “Explore the Map.” Once there, select “Plymouth” from the dropdown menu for “Communities,” then select “Focus Group” as the workshop, and click “Reload.”
The next step in this process will be a programming meeting to be planned in the coming weeks. During this meeting, the Plymouth visioning committee will review the information they have gathered and identify priorities for the transportation enhancement plan for Plymouth.
