Opinion: CAFO’s, hotels, aluminum siding and votes

I read John Skipper’s Sunday column this morning….I could easily relate to it after all I have lived here my entire life and stood witness to both the good and the not so good here amongst the amber waves of corn and beans along with hefty waves of nausea coming from rapidly encroaching CAFO’s which will eventually decimate not only your health but your property value as it relates to the desirability of your home once you had your fill of sealing all of your windows shut to escape the unmistakable stench that 5,000 hogs brings with them.

We who live within the boundaries of Mason City have our own form of CAFO’s that threaten our property values in the form of higher property taxes due to extreme incompetence as it relates to municipal development. Look at the train wreck that is one of the greatest debacles I can recall. A hotel that hasn’t a chance in hell of cash flowing. We are not short on hotel rooms, on the contrary… I personally called the main players in the rent a room game… none of them suffer from turning away customers.

Eric Bookmeyer and the original council he dominated when he concocted this nightmare were totally clueless. Have them produce the studies that they had done… Oh, I forgot… there were no studies done. Who then of those who sided with Mr. Budweiser had a working knowledge or experience in this field of endeavor… again not one person. This was tantamount to a felony… malfeasance, fraud and lying to the public.
This entire collection of malcontents acted with lightening speed in selling the mall for less than .10 cents on the dollar to an entity with active warrants to arrest him on sight. How nice!

The “Gateway Guy” convinced me the minute I saw him at the podium that he sells Aluminum Siding 3 days a week. How else would you rationalize giving him a check for $150,000.00 without cracking open the parking lot? He’s a real superstar at all the con-men conventions across the country. Word of late has come to me that this superstar also submitted a invoice for an additional $110,000.00. My source went on to tell me our current recycled mayor… Mr. Slick… took the $110K invoice to our acting City Administrator and demanded he pay it. “Thank God” he refuse to cut the check. This gigantic cluster “F” continues to fester uncontrolled. Oh… I forgot… the woman at The Music Man Square who is in charge of tour busses wants to assume control of the entire project. Why not…..can’t get any worse than it already is.

This is a prime example of what occurs when the hoi polloi votes.

And now there are nefarious groups that are moving against Amanda Ragan; they are telling lies about her, trust me we have a pair of winners with Amanda and Sharon, both are straight shooters with only your interests in mind. Do not change your vote, put both of these women back in office.
