Iowa announces suspicious activity reporting campaign

DES MOINES – Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg announced on Monday the launch of a new campaign to educate Iowans on the importance of reporting suspicious activity.

The Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the Iowa Department of Public Safety are partnering with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to promote the “If You See Something, Say Something®” campaign, which was created to educate the public on the importance of reporting suspicious behavior that could indicate terrorism or terrorism-related crime. The private sector, through the Safeguard Iowa Partnership, and local law enforcement, through the Iowa State Sheriffs’ and Deputies’ Association and the Iowa Police Chiefs Association, are also partners in this effort.

“There are things we all can do to increase the safety of our communities, state and nation,” Gov. Reynolds said. “We are asking all Iowans to pay attention to their surroundings, and if they see something that looks suspicious, to report it to local law enforcement or call 911.”  Some people call this “snitchin’“.

With the recent school shootings in Florida and other locations in the United States, the governor asked parents, students, school faculty and staff and members of the community to be especially vigilant for signs of potential violence and to report it to school officials or law enforcement.

The “If You See Something, Say Something®” public awareness campaign will include radio public service announcements through 2018, along with sharing and reinforcing the suspicious activity reporting message with the assistance of private business and local law enforcement agencies and through social media platforms. As part of this campaign, the Iowa Department of Education will work with campaign partners to expand its efforts to spread the message on the importance of reporting suspicious activity. The State of Iowa has partnered with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for past campaigns that included “If You See Something, Say Something®” posters at the Iowa State Fair, statewide broadcast of radio public service announcements, billboards, bus signs and community outreach through law enforcement.

“As we go about our days, going to work, school, shopping, traveling, if we see something out of the ordinary, something that shouldn’t be there or someone’s behavior doesn’t seem right and causes suspicion, we should contact our local law enforcement agency or call 911,” Lt. Gov. Gregg said.

I’ll drink to that!

…acting Lt. Gov….

And now the news is saying he had several rifles on hand. Officials been in contact with him 3 dozen times. And the FBI has been in the news for what, 6 months, over some Russian BS over politics. And to top it all off the judge look all of 21 years old with eye make up like she just walk out of a bordello. What the hell is going on here. Like some comic tragedy it does not end. And like the comment below this campaign is doing what. This is your answer keeping our school safe. Oh, what bitter web we weave when we practice to deceive. Take the flash out of politics and move on. Do what’s right.

Was she Hot! lol

This isn’t something new the gov came up with. It’s beeb in the schools for sometime. Called Say Something. Sponsored by the Sandy Hook Promise organization. They have videos, bracelets, brochures

Ms Clinton still lost. Get over it and move on. The nation wide rallying call for civil disobedience was led by this person and a retired former president. Who by the way left with 40 million dollars in his pocket. Dare I say the Pandora box is now opened. Democracy is done. As Mr and Mrs Greed is now in the house. People are buying guns in record numbers because their scared. Neighbors turn on neighbor is now the shrill rallying cry. ‘Get ’em and save the money for us’. OMG

The FBI gets about 2100 calls a day concerning this type of thing. It is apparent people are already doing this in this area. With advent of the holy grail of communication the cell phone people are already using this for a variety of causes albeit selfish ones at that. It sounds good on paper calling for added awareness. But one would imagine the local law enforcement is already overloaded with this type call. Gone are the days when ‘old battle ax’ was the only one calling from her kitchen window reporting ‘suspicious’ behaviors. Now today it’s anyone with an ax to grind. God has throwing you under the bus and rightly so. Better Iowa gets out and ‘Marches’ for the children that are getting slaughter in our schools. After all Iowa’s quarter does have a school on it. When it comes to morality you reap what you sow. And greed is your god now. So very sad.

I hate to say this — BUT everyone knows the flordia shooter was reported to the fbi -months/weeks before he committed his deed – All this information was ignored by the fbi — WHY ??? I feel more comfy now that I have my permit.

Why? Law Enforcement will just ignore it.
