WASHINGTON, D.C. – The FBI today admitted it was warned last month about the murderous intentions of Florida shooter Nikolas Cruz, who carried out his plans and killed 17 at a high school this week.
FBI Statement on the Shooting in Parkland, Florida:
On January 5, 2018, a person close to Nikolas Cruz contacted the FBI’s Public Access Line (PAL) tipline to report concerns about him. The caller provided information about Cruz’s gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting.
Under established protocols, the information provided by the caller should have been assessed as a potential threat to life. The information then should have been forwarded to the FBI Miami Field Office, where appropriate investigative steps would have been taken.
We have determined that these protocols were not followed for the information received by the PAL on January 5. The information was not provided to the Miami Field Office, and no further investigation was conducted at that time.
FBI Director Christopher Wray said:
“We are still investigating the facts. I am committed to getting to the bottom of what happened in this particular matter, as well as reviewing our processes for responding to information that we receive from the public. It’s up to all Americans to be vigilant, and when members of the public contact us with concerns, we must act properly and quickly.
“We have spoken with victims and families, and deeply regret the additional pain this causes all those affected by this horrific tragedy. All of the men and women of the FBI are dedicated to keeping the American people safe, and are relentlessly committed to improving all that we do and how we do it.”
As more and more information comes out it’s uncanny how this guy reminds one of Lee Harvey Oswald. Cool under pressure this loner seemed to be highly keen to what he was doing. I can’t defend the FBI..they let us all down…heads need to roll and we need people committed to law enforcement, not politics. I am certain the FBI and the mental health system would have failed the public even if the FBI acted on this. My point is, schools need armed security and citizens need to be responsible for their own safety as politicians and government are incompentent/compromised.
The fbi okayed the sale of the gun used in the shootings because they failed to do a background check on him – 39 police calls related to him and that’s okay ? Unfking beleiveable.!

I could go for more restrictions on fire arms that do more than your basic self defense. But, I don’t think laws or politicians are going to be able to stop the shootings. Laws that are in place now are haphazardly enforce and it appears the FBI and others are asleep at the wheel when the public does its job. That being said, what would the FBI do to this kid even if they had followed up? They can jail him for the hell of it. Maybe they could have got him some help, but mental health facilities are not funded well and the is we the people’s fault. If we are serious about school shootings, it will require funding mental health, funding school facilities and laws that are consistently enforced. I don’t see any of this happening soon. I suggest arming yourself the police can’t protect you.
