VENTURA – Iowa DNR staff in the water supply program will speak at a workshop in Ventura this month covering safe drinking water practices.
This workshop will address the issues faced with disinfection of drinking water when ammonia is present. Whether ammonia occurs naturally or is added for chloramination, Department of Natural Resources staff will be discussing the challenges you face maintaining water quality. They will also be presenting PBS’s “What exactly went wrong in Flint—and what does it mean for the rest of the country?” A round-table discussion regarding lead in Iowa will wrap up the day.
The Iowa Rural Water Association is inviting the public for this free training workshop. Valuable information will be offered from expert trainers to maintain compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and state regulations. With a variety of topics, speakers and presentations, this training workshop meets the requirements of system specialists (operators), management, office staff and decision makers.
Technical assistance to address compliance issues is available from State Rural Water Association at no cost.
This workshop will offer 6 CEU hours in Water Treatment & Water Distribution.
The workshop will be offered February 28 in Ventura at the Ventura Community Center, 4 Weimer Street.
