President Trump’s budget allows food stamp users to get boxes of delicious food so they will have to shop less

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump’s $4.4 trillion budget will make drastic changes to how folks use food stamps, delivering boxes of delicious food to the poor and sending them to the grocery store less.

The food stamp program – now called Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – has been a target of Republicans for years. Under the President’s new budget – which dramatically increases funding to the military by $74 billion – SNAP funding is sliced by $129.2 billion over the next 10 years.

According to the White House, the Budget proposes a bold new approach to administering the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that combines traditional SNAP benefits with 100-percent American grown foods provided directly to households and focuses administrative reforms on outcome-based employment strategies. The budget expands on previous SNAP proposals to strengthen expectations for work among able-bodied adults, preserves benefits for those most in need, promotes efficiency in State operations, and improves program integrity. Combined, these reforms would maintain the commitment to ensure Americans in need of assistance have access to a nutritious diet while significantly reducing the cost to taxpayers.  Households receiving $90 or more per month in SNAP benefits will receive a portion of their benefits in the form of a USDA Foods package, which would include items such as shelf-stable milk, ready to eat cereals, pasta, peanut butter, beans and canned fruit, vegetables, and meat, poultry or fish.

A list of USDA Foods that are available or expected to be made available to participants in the Food Distribution Programs can be viewed here.

The President’s budget would have to be approved by Congress.

In 2018, 43,662,832 Americans were on SNAP benefits, costing on average $136.85 per person each month.

OMG. The news is blowing up today about the President’s idea to replace food stamps with ‘Snap Food Boxes’. People are pissed. So instead of trading food stamps for cash they gunna to half to start selling that fruit basket on the corner. I like this idea bringing back the old fruit market. Money to be made. ‘Better get snapping’. Roflmao

And as soon as we stop illegals from getting any type of beneficial handout, we will have progress. Welfare is abused. It should have time limits.

Makes sense. People get over their disabilities so then take their help away. I seen lots of people bounce back from cancer, mental illness, PTSD, blindness, hearing loss, all that stuff. When are you getting over your mental illness?

Bodouches is an idiot. Outcome based has always been liberal jargon for studies they use to obtain more governmental funding. In almost all cases being a waste of tax payers money.

And when they show up for the box lunch make them do a drug test so they can get the help they really need .

Sounds like a great approach to me, give them real food, sounds like they are planning to do this through distribution centers like the food bank. It sure makes a lot more sense than letting someone use their card to buy a slice of Pizza for $4 or a bag of chips for $5 at a convenience store. (You see this all the time.) I think it will absolutely cut costs saving the taxpayers money while supplying more food and better nutrition to those needing the program. (So to you bodacious, this is actually an increase in nutritious food for a lower cost. Nobody is getting cut off.)

Very true.

Let them MF’s eat cake!

Sounds like a good deal to me. When you are getting something for free, you should be thankful for what you get. If the recipients aren’t willing to accept the food, they don’t need the card.

Homeless is at an all time high.Trading food stamp dollars for cash is very common around here. Only takes 30 days to get a card once you step foot in Iowa. Are reserves are being drained rapidly. The school lunch program has turned into a profit machine. The kids need the food and the adults need a job. This is what this article is about.

Had to be written by someone in Trump administration.

Why? Because it tells the truth and that is something liberals like you know nothing about.

No, because it says ‘delicious’ and uses such terms as ‘bold new approach’ and ‘outcome-based strategies’ which are republican speak for “we are making cuts to assistance programs so our big donors will pay less taxes”

How do you know it isn’t true. Where is your proof? Or, are you just all mouth like we all suspect?

So I take it you don’t pay taxes and are receiving some benefits
