Mason City man dead after crashing into parked police vehicle

WORTH COUNTY – A Mason City man lost his life after he crashed into parked police vehicle.

The accident took place Friday, February 9 at about 9:27 PM on Interstate 35 southbound, just north of Highway 9. A 2011 Ford Focus driven by 65-year-old Johnnie Lee Waslick of Mason City was southbound in the inside lane as it approached a parked 2017 Chevy Tahoe belonging to the Worth county sheriff’s office. The Tahoe was parked on the inside should lane, providing advance warning of another accident, ahead. The Focus collided with the Tahoe from behind. As a result, Waslick was killed. A Worth county deputy, 30-year-old Zachary Schrup, was treated and released at the scene.

The operation was a success – but the patient died.

You are a real ass. I am sure your mom loves you but she must have to work at it.

People need to pay attention when they are driving. Do not get distracted.

Was the deputy parked on the traveled portion of -I35 or was he on the untraveled (SHOUD) ? whatever that means – lots of difference if your in a tin can focus or a Tahoe.

RIP Johnnie. Your now in that big casino in the sky. You’ll be missed.
