Prom dresses available for gals in need in Mason City

MASON CITY – Prom dresses are being rounded up and will be made available for gals in need in the Mason City area.

On February 24, at 1 PM, dresses will be handed out to teens who are in need.  This charitable effort is being coordinated by Kandi Torres, who runs a Facebook group called North Iowa Gives Back.

“I have 3 prom and 6 brides maids that could potentially be used as a prom dress … picking up more through the next couple weeks,” Ms. Torres tells NIT.

“North Iowa Gives Back wants to help young ladies who would love to go to Prom, but are unable to go due to financial struggles,” Ms. Torres explained. “I was unable to attend prom for this very reason and it’s not a very good feeling! So if we can provide dresses to these young ladies I feel like we will help create memories that won’t be forgotten nor will it feel like a void in their amazing little hearts.”

Prom dresses can be dropped off at the North Iowa Youth Center, located at 138 5th Street SW, on February 24.  Donations of dresses are welcome all the way through that date.  If you would like to donate a dress please send a message via Facebook to North Iowa Gives Back to set up pick up drop off.
