OBIT: Robert “Bob” Shindelar, 58, of Marble Rock

Robert “Bob” Shindelar, 58, of Marble Rock, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

A funeral service for Bob Shindelar will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Marble Rock Community Center with Pastor Dennis Burns from the Marble Rock United Methodist Church officiating.

Visitation will be at the Marble Rock Community Center Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Robert “Bob” Alan Shindelar, the son of Anselm and Marjorie (Luenberger) Shindelar, was born July 15, 1959 in Charles City, Iowa. He attended school in Roseville, Marble Rock and graduated from Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock High School. While in high school, Bob excelled at many sports especially football, baseball and wrestling (almost making it to the State competition for wrestling). After graduation, Bob worked several jobs including Rock Island Railroad, Eaton Corporation, Schroeder Concrete and most recently Wood Harbor.

Bob was united in marriage with Holly Hillman on October 9, 1993 at the Marble Rock United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Marble Rock.
Bob was a member of the Marble Rock United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, mushroom hunting, gardening and wood working (probably his biggest hobby). Bob was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan.

Living family members include his wife, Holly; two children: Emily and Calvin (Chris); four grandchildren; eight siblings: Bill (Donna) Shindelar, Tom Shindelar, Janet (Mark) Brincks, Aleta (Paul) Leavens, Marcia McSweeny, Monroe (Lori) Shindelar, Virginia “Ginny” (Bill) Colville and Dick (Kristen) Shindelar; three step-siblings: Pam (Steven Kapping) Walker, Don (Corrine) Walker and Tom Walker, Sr.; mother-in-law, Carma Hillman; two sisters-in-law: Heidi (Ron) Marzen and Darci (Jake) Mallo; brother-in-law, Dana (Callie) Hillman; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Dean Walker; two sisters: Diane and Charlotte Shindelar; step-sister, Janice Wilmoth; sister-in-law, Ruthie Shindelar; father-in-law, Danny Hillman; and niece, Lauren Coalville.
