KENSETT – An unoccupied car was struck and drug through Kensett by a train this week.
NIT confirmed the accident took place around 4:30 AM, Wednesday, December 27 on 410th Street, which goes through the north side of Kensett from east to west. A motor vehicle was struck by a southbound Union Pacific train at this location and dragged a distance before the train came to a stop. Sources say the car was unoccupied, but initially, Mercy Air Med was called for help. That call was cancelled when no persons were found near the wreckage.
The engine stopped just south of Kensett where the engineer was being questioned. 410th Street was shut down during the ensuing investigation. NIT is told the registered owner of the car was at the scene by the tracks, but their name was not given.
