Four NIACC wrestlers place third at Coe Invite

CEDAR RAPIDS – Four NIACC wrestlers placed third at the Coe College Invitational on Saturday.

Earning third-place finishes for the Trojans were Robert Rodriguez (149), Noah Jackson (157), Ryan Faught (165) and Jimsher Sidhu (285).

Also for the Trojans, Jaylen Lee (184) and Sedrak Sheppard (197) both placed sixth.

At 149 pounds, Coe’s Cole Erickson topped Rodriguez 5-0 in the semfinals. Rodriguez pinned Coe’s Austin Hoffman in 1:30 in the third-place match.

At 157 pounds, Coe’s Josh Gerke topped Jackson 9-3 in the semifinals. Jackson pinned Coe’s John Clymer in 1:52 in the third-place match.

At 165 pounds, Cornell’s Ben Hewson pinned Faught in 2:00 in the semifinals. Faught took a 6-4 decision from Missouri Baptist University’s Nicholas Olejnik in the third-place match.

At 285 pounds, Grand View’s Gary Whitaker topped Sidhu 6-3 in the semifinals. Sidhu topped Grand View’s Cooper Thomas 12-8 in the third-place match.

At 184 pounds, Lee fell to Simpson’s Noah Robison 6-4 in the fifth-place match.

At 197 pounds, Coe’s Jordan Challis pinned Sheppard in 2:05 in the fifth-place match.

NIACC returns to action Nov. 29 in a dual at Iowa Lakes.
