North Iowa sex offender accused of crimes against child says he’s not guilty

FOREST CITY – A man convicted of sex crimes in at least two North Iowa counties and facing new charges of sex crimes against a child says he’s not guilty.

Chad Bonner, listed as an inmate in the Winnebago county jail in Forest City, has been charged after an investigation in Winnebago county with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of indecent contact with a child, both felonies. The charges come after an investigation by the state’s Division of Criminal Investigation and Winnebago county authorities. He was arrested June 28 and remains behind bars. He has entered a not-guilty plea and will stand trail on August 23.

Additionally, Bonner faces a sex abuse charge in Worth county.

Bonner was convicted in Cerro Gordo county in 1991 of third-degree sexual abuse. He was also convicted in Winnebago county in 2010 with dissemination of obscene material and sexual exploitation of a minor.
