Annual Rubber Duck Race to be held in Charles City on August 4

CHARLES CITY – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa has scheduled the Annual Rubber Duck Race in Charles City to August 4, 2017 at 6:00 PM. All proceeds raised will support the nationally award-winning one-to-one mentoring program in Floyd County.

As many as 3,000 rubber ducks will be dropped into the Cedar River at 6:00 pm from the Main Street Bridge in Charles City. Each numbered rubber duck will race approximately a half a mile down the river, going through the Whitewater kayak course, to the finish line by the IC ball fields. The owner of the first adopted duck to cross the finish line will win $500.  Additional prizes will be awarded to the next consecutive 10 or more finishing ducks. There will also be a prize for the duck that crosses the finish line last.

Prizes include: $500 cash prize, a 10’ Viper Kayak, Iowa Hawkeyes cornhole set, 4 pack UNI football tickets, $25 Iowa Wireless gift certificates, The Barber Cave gift certificates and many more.

Ducks can still be adopted online through August 4,, 2017 and in person at Party in the Park in Charles City on August 4th prior to the duck race. All are invited to adopt rubber ducks to participate in the race and you do not need to be present to win. Ducks can be adopted for $5 for one “Lone Duck”, $25 for a “Six-Quack,” or $100 for a Feathered Flock (25 ducks).
