WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald J. Trump this morning told transgender individuals that they won’t be in America’s armed forces.
In his typical “tweet” methodology of communicating, President Trump unequivocally stated that transgender persons have no place in the military.
“After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow…… ….Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming…..
….victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you.”
The topic has been making the rounds on talk shows, with right-wing pundits claiming 40% of transgender people have attempted suicide, as one main talking point. What prompted the President’s tweet storm Wednesday wasn’t immediately clear.
In response, Iowa’s leading LGBTQ organization issued a statement in response President Donald Trump’s pronouncement on Twitter, calling his phrases “misinformed and mean-spirited tweets regarding transgender service members.”
“Transgender servicemembers have always been a part of the United States Military,” said Iowa Safe Schools Executive Director, Nate Monson. “President Trump’s tweets disparage and demean the sacrifices transgender servicemembers have made for our country. The message that transgender youth cannot serve their country is wrong. No one should be denied the ability to serve their country regardless of race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, or gender identity. President Trump should delete his account and stop bullying the transgender community.”
Transgenders and homosexuals is an unfortunate twist of nature that causes difficulty for any military organization to deal with. With so many other opportunities to serve their country there is no need to force the military to deal with those in that category.
I would not want the added pressure of serving next to them. There is enough to deal with serving in the military.
This idea of forcing yourself on everybody, regardless of ANY chosen lifestyle, is a wrong headed notion.

There are some promising new developments in treating paranoia. A new generation of very effective medications is now on the market. When combined with regular counseling you don’t need to continue looking fearfully over your shoulder or living under a rock anymore .Seriously, its gonna be OK but you do need to take better care of yourself.

I don’t want my taxes to go higher and I believe every person who can work, should work. I don’t have any problem with our military but I don’t think it needs more money to waste on weapons. I respect people who speak the truth. I also believe this country was founded on principles that back up my beliefs. I don’t want you to leave this country nor do I wish this country any harm. We can do better and we will once we elect somebody to the White House who can unite us without belittling or beleaguering those who don’t see things the same way. Donald Trump is not that person. You said on another post that he possesses all the characteristics of a Boy Scout. To me, that shows just how misguided you are. You see his faults but you refuse to acknowledge them. That sounds just like many Germans in the 1930s and 40s. I suspect if Trump started rounding up those who disagree with him and imprisoning them, you would go right along with it stating it is fake news.
I still think you are a professional blogger or in need of those meds for bleeding heart liberals that ends up hurting everyone else they think they are helping. If you really are a working stiff you need to get your head out of your butt.

You are the one who labeled people when you started your comment with “you haters”. I Respect the rights of that community but when you start having schools not being allowed to call students boys and girls so as not to offend anyone , that offends me. You can’t please everyone. I have the right to believe in biology and genetic predisposition to be male and female. Our rights are slowly being eroded away. and to bring it back to the military… the military’s duty is to protect our nation, not to be embroiled in social politics.
I love it when the liberals who claim to be diverse are the ones who label someone who disagrees with them as a hater. If the alphabet labeled community want to be diverse, then it’s about damn time they allow those who disagree with their lifestyle to have their opinion matter also. The military is not for social engineering or experimentation. There isn’t enough money to help the veterans now. The military should not have to pay for gender reassignment surgery. Enough of the “new normal.” For those of us who believe in our god given gender, we have rights too.

You don’t want to admit that the military has had gay, bisexual and transgender personnel forever. Are we better off or worse off because of it? You do have rights as you say. And if that’s true, then so do transgender people. Barring them from serving in the military is stripping them of rights. Besides, do you believe that by allowing transgender people in the military, they will enlist in droves? They haven’t yet.
