MASON CITY – A float and cleanup will soon be held along the Winnebago River in Mason City.
A river cleanup float will be held on the Winnebago River on Saturday, August 5 from 9 a.m. – Noon.
This float is open to the public and a limited number of canoes will be available for use. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own canoes or kayaks as well. The 2.5 mile float will begin at East Park and end at Averydale Access on Birch Drive.
The goal is to enjoy a beautiful stretch of river, picking up trash along the way. Volunteers are asked to wear clothing that can get dirty and wet. Life jackets are required. All participants will need to arrange their own transportation back from the end of the float.
This event is sponsored by the Mason City Earth Day Committee, Mason City Active Living and Transportation Commission, and Lime Creek Nature Center. Registration is required by calling 641-423-5309.
