As an American, I am looking forward to this ‘investigation’, even though FBI James Comey has already confirmed there was no collusion with Trump and the Russians.
When I say I’m looking forward to this investigation, let’s actually go back (10 years or more?) and get the full Russian interference. Remember when then candidate Obama laughed at Mitt Romney and told him that ‘the Cold War is over’ and there is nothing to fear with Russia? Remember when B and H Clinton gave aid and Uranuim to Russia and she pushed a ‘red reset button’ on March 24, 2010 and stated, “Our goal is to help strengthen Russia’.
Remember when Bill Clinton received $500,000 on June 29, 2010, three weeks after the Uranium deal, for being a ‘keynote speaker’ in Moscow? Remember when President Obama was overheard on a hot mic telling a Russian official, on March 26, 2012, ‘After the election, I have more flexibility’.
I didnt think so, because you see, there is a tendency to forget. That’s what we do. Let’s keep speaking the truth, until all the truth comes out and Justice Is Served!

I didn’t demean Ms. Hovland so I will assume you mean some of the other responders to the article. I would want to bet Ms. Hovland knows what kind of comments her article would generate yet she went ahead and published it for all to read (and I guess comment on too). If she thought everyone would agree with her, she is a bit off as this country is as divided as it has been since the Civil Rights Act was passed over 50 years ago. Unfortunately, human decency has deteriorated since then. The right calls it political correctness, the left calls it compassion. Either way, it is gone. We have a great many people out there who have reverted back to 3rd grade where calling each other names was never condoned, but always present. They haven’t developed empathy for others nor have they the skills to intelligently debate the other side. So, they call each other names. It is the 21st century way of life. Get used to it.

Romney that Russia was no longer a problem. Hillary DID authorize the unwise sale of enriched uranium to Russia, and Bill – via the Clinton foundation – DID monetize it, to their benefit, and America’s detriment.
Billy Jeff WAS paid $500K for a speech once the ink was dry on the deal. Moreover, President Trump had ample reasons to fire Comey, who badly diminished the FBI’s cherished reputation and its stature. James Comey’s dismal performance fully merited his dismissal – as even some Democrats have said.
Does anyone actually believe that Hillary would’ve allowed Mr. Comey to stay on, had SHE won? Not a chance. These personal attacks on Mrs. Hovland are as mean as they are laughable.
Apparently, lots of envious people don’t admire a person who sought public office to try to improve the lives of everyday Mason Cityans. Barb doesn’t need the hassle of politics – but she believes in creating opportunities for others. She and Tom are great people, and hard workers; always have been. They believe in giving back, and not only in all of the taxes that they pay on the federal, state, county, and municipal levels.
If more people were like the Hovlands, 90+ percent of these
‘Transfer’ programs would be completely unnecessary.
I’ve known Barb since 1968, when we were students at Roosevelt elementary school. The fact is, she genuinely cares about Mason City, and wanted to try to help hardworking citizens to help themselves.
I suspect some of the name-callers here who are hurling insults at her probably just wish that the lady in THEIR life was half as attractive as Barb. That’s especially true when they’re stuck with something that’s like a cross between Rosie O’Donnell and Roseanne Barr, with all the charm of Maxine Waters.
