Two hurt in crash in Dickinson county

SUPERIOR, IOWA – Two people were hurt and hospitalized after a crash near Superior, Iowa Wednesday.

The Iowa State Patrol investigated a two vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of 150 street (A20) and 340 Ave (N-22), east of Superior Iowa, at approximately 9:18 AM.

Amanda Bruender, age 31 of Estherville, Iowa, was northbound on N-22 driving a 2006 Nissan when she collided with a 2010 Buick driven westbound on A20 by Stephanie Egeland, age 46, of Estherville, Iowa. Egeland was trapped inside the vehicle and was extracted by mechanical means. Both drivers were transported to Holy Family Hospital in Estherville with non-incapacitating injuries, Egeland by ambulance and Bruender by private vehicle. A child passenger in Bruender’s vehicle was also transported to Holy Family with non-incapacitating injuries.

Both vehicles had an estimated $10,000 damage. Egeland was cited for failure to yield right of way.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on scene by the Emmet and Dickinson County Sheriff’s Offices, Superior Fire and Rescue, Milford Fire/Lakes Area Extrication unit and two LRH Ambulance crews.
