Cerro Gordo supervisors OK levy reduction for property tax payers (video)

Cerro Gordo board of supervisors met on March 28, 2017

MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo county supervisors OK’d a levy reduction of 3.38% for property tax payers Tuesday morning at the board’s regular meeting.

The County Social Services Board approved on March 22, 2017, a reduction in the Mental Health Utility Replacement and Property Tax funding of $2.00 per capita by county. For Cerro Gordo county, this is a reduction of $86,034 in utility replacement and property tax dollars. The county will collect this much less revenue. With the 3-0 unanimous vote from he supervisors, the $0.0038% reduction in the levy is official. It was said at the meeting that the county tax levy rate had not been reduces in perhaps 10 years or longer. The previous board had held the rate steady.

Also at the meeting, the engineer’s plan for road and bridge repair was approved, with several projects and bids OK’d. See the accompanying video for details.
