CLARION, IOWA – The mother of a stranded two-year-old child left outside in the rain wearing only pajamas and no shoes has been released from jail and could face years behind bars after a guilty plea.

Ysable Ceplecha, age 24 of Eagle Grove, has been charged with felony C Neglect or Abandonment of a Dependent Person, based on the investigation conducted by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office related to the two-year-old girl who was found outside in the rain in Galt on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. At the time she was found, the child was wearing only pajamas and no shoes.

With the help of the public, the child was quickly identified and authorities made contact with Ceplecha. During that contact, law enforcement also took Ceplecha’s one-year-old child into protective custody and both children were placed in the care of the Iowa Department of Human Services.

Ceplecha has entered a guilty plea in this case, but was released from jail with supervision, records show.  She could face up to 10 years in prison when she is sentenced on April 3.
