Northern Iowa woman jailed on drug charges after putting car in ditch

EMMET COUNTY – A Northern Iowa woman was jailed when she put her car in the ditch as a law enforcement officer looked on.

According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, at approximately 9:30 AM on Tuesday, January 31, a sheriff’s deputy on patrol in the 400 block of 200th Street, South of Estherville observed a vehicle enter the ditch and become stuck in the snow while attempting a u turn on 200th Street. Upon investigation at the scene, it was determined that the driver, 57-year-old Mary Elise Enderton of Estherville was driving on a suspended driver’s license. Enderton was placed under arrest and transported to the Emmet County Jail for booking.

Upon further investigation at the scene, substances believed to be methamphetamine and marijuana were located in the vehicle. As a result, Enderton was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Maintain Control and Fraudulent Use of Registration.

Enderton was released on an unsecured bond of $3,000.00 after her appearance before the Emmet County Magistrate the following morning.
