Semi stuck under Mason City train trestle Tuesday morning (photos)

MASON CITY – A semi driver drove his rig under a train trestle in Mason City Tuesday morning and became stuck there.

The incident was reported early Tuesday morning around 10 AM. At the scene, on 1st Street SW between Jackson Avenue and Monroe Avenue, the semi’s trailer was wedged under the green train trestle. The yellow height sign on the trestle was damaged. Police had the street blocked off yet this afternoon and it appeared railroad personnel were on the scene, too.

No further details were immediately available.

He isn’t the first one. Same thing happened here in the mid 1970’s. That guy tried backing out but the brakes on the trailer locked and the trailer broke in half. The back of the trailer was flat on the ground.

that’s what happens with imports, cant read english

He was an older, white, American. Nice gentlemen who looked of fear because his record was clean until now. Accidents happen, he wasn’t the first and he won’t be the last.

Your post is poorly written, improperly punctuated and typical of mighty white trailer trash with a 3rd grade reading level,

Signs are clear driver must not be very smart or just inexperienced.

We drove by there. he must have been moving pretty fast. He really buried it.

I think he was the guy wearing shorts and jumping around like he was nervous.

Kind of ironic that the truck knocked down the “11′-6″ low clearance” sign.
