MASON CITY – Kinseth Hospitality Company announced last week the addition of a new restaurant, Z’Mariks, to the Mason City area.
Z’Mariks is a casual restaurant that offers fresh food fast. The restaurant will be located at 2105 4th St SW Street, Mason City and will be a convenient stop for those working and living near Business HWY 18. Z’Mariks is set to open in late spring of 2017 and will be the fourth Iowa location for the Iowa originating franchise. It’s a shame that some of you think the way you do. My wife and I happen to own a small restaurant and are very particular as to who we hire and the quality level at which it needs to be ran at. It really is unfair to bulk businesses in the service industry into such a negative view. We are committed to giving young people their first jobs in many cases, all of which (63) have gone on to college after leaving here. We have had the privilege to be a large part of their success. So many have become great leaders in other fields during and after college. As a business we have given back 10s of thousands of dollars over the years, our employees have given us that opportunity to do this for the community. You really need to look further into the impact of a business before berating it. A well run business can have huge financial benefits for the employees who are willing to take on the challenge.

I completely agree. A restaurant is a great place for students to begin their work experience. In fact, I feel that everyone should work in the service industry at least once in their life. Its not as easy as some portray it to be.
Below I see someone put that a restaurant job is not a career, but if you own the restaurant its your life. I appreciate the pride you take in being a part of your former employees’ success after they have gone to college.

Another restaurant. Yawn. The labor pool for these places is already exhausted. There’s a lot of toothless meth heads out there, but at some point even Mason City runs out.
All this negativity, jeez, be glad a new business/restaurant wants to come to our town. It will give us a new eating option. I know it wont have all the migrant job positions like a trash burning plant or a slaughterhouse, but is a step toward improving our town.
Hmm I’ll stick to the old faithful Las Palmas. You get friendly servers, fresh hot food and fast, and the place is always clean.

Just what we don’t need is another restaurant that pays minimum wages. How about a manufacturing plant that pays a decent wage with good benefits.
Again, the food industry isn’t really considered a career. So I don’t think they are opening it to add to job market as much as give the people who live, work and pass through this community another choice when it comes to convenient eating.
It is a place that will hire all criminals from Bee Gee so they can spit and jack off in your food if you are dumb enough to eat there. They can’ afford to hire anyone decent.
That’s the employment pool Prime and Wine gets their whole kitchen staff from.
lets get a real eating place like we had yrs ago, The Troika, Playpen, Kansas city steak house, pheasant run and etc. why doesn’t anyone open up something like that,. ya we got prime and wine, I don’t care for and papas but no atmosphere. sure miss the troika
Papa’s and the Prime and Wine both serve over priced dog food. I would rather eat warmed up leftovers from the community kitchen before I would voluntarily pay for the crap they pass off as food at either one of those sh*tholes. I wish these new restraunteers good luck in Mason City.
Wrong, Doug orders high quality and healthy food you probably don’t like it because its not greasy enough for your fat arse. I love papas and the prime. Friendliest service and its cheap. Don’t like it, bring your fat arse to McDonalds.
I would agree with you. I have always had good service and good food at Papas.
Papa’s is the place to go if you would like to get sick. I cant pinpoint if its the BeGe Clark kitchen or the gross broads coughing on the food they bring out. But I have gotten sick twice there. Never again.
If you have gotten sick you should have said something to the owner. Businesses pay to have you tested. Food poisoning cases are public knowledge and I guarantee there isn’t one for Papas or the Prime. You may have given yourself food poisoning at your own home because of your lack of knowledge about it. Papa’s and the Prime wouldn’t be part of the very few local restaurants still open (over 20 years each) if they were getting people sick all of the time. If you are going to blast local places make sure you have your facts straight. You can go to the Department of Public Health website to get all of your info.
As for *Beje (correct spelling) Clark “employees” those are used as fill-ins for local businesses if a janitorial employee calls in or doesn’t show up. Are you going to come clean floors, bathrooms, and take out garbage for someone? Probably not. I guarantee many businesses use them and they are not touching your food.
Mason City should welcome any new restaurant. Its good for our economy and it adds something different. We just cannot be bashing our local businesses. If you don’t like a place that’s fine, everyone has different tastes. Just don’t go there. It’s that simple.
