Iowa man accused of serious crimes who followed woman home from gym and entered her home to stand trial

DUBUQUE – An Iowa man who is accused of burglary, false imprisonment and other crimes and later followed a woman home from a gym and then went in her house will stand trial soon.

On October 23, 2016, at 11:13 AM, Dubuque police responded to a home on Dubuque’s west side and met with the female resident who reported a man unknown to her entered her home without authorization. The male fled when she called for her husband.

As the investigation progressed, a suspect was developed and a photo line-up was presented to the female. She positively identified one of the males in the line-up, identified as Jacob D. Harrison, age 21, of Dubuque. The investigation further revealed Harrison, in his white Ford sedan, followed the female home from a local fitness establishment. It was also verified he was on pretrial release following an arrest on September 2, 2015, for Burglary 2nd Degree, False Imprisonment, Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, and Eluding, all pertaining to another incident at a home on Dubuque’s far west side. Harrison had been released on a reduced bond and was awaiting trial on the above charges.

Harrison’s pretrial release was revoked and he remains incarcerated in the Dubuque County Jail following his arrest on October 27. He is charged with Trespass in this latest incident and his current bond is $200,000.

Harrison pled not guilty to the trespass charge. He will face a jury trial on February 28 and a pre-trial conference on January 26. In the felony case, he will face a jury trial on February 7 and a pre-trial conference on January 30.
