HIAWATHA, IOWA – A woman was discovered dead and police caught up with a man walking nude down a nearby street, leading to his arrest on murder charges.
On December 2, 2016 at approximately 8:40 AM, Hiawatha, Iowa police officers responded to multiple calls of a naked man walking in the 700 block of North Center Point Road. The naked man was identified as 32-year-old Joseph Hubbard. During the investigation additional information was learned.
At approximately 9:06 AM that day, a welfare check was done at 213 Sunset Lane in Hiawatha. Deborah Roman, age 56, was found deceased at the residence. Her body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office and an autopsy was conducted on December 4, 2016. The results of the autopsy are pending.
Hubbard was arrested and charged with: 2nd Degree Arson 3rd Degree Burglary Assault Causing Bodily Injury for alleged activities away from 213 Sunset Lane.
Then, on December 13, 2016, an additional charge of Murder in the Second Degree was filed against Joseph D. Hubbard in the death of his mother Deborah Roman.
