MASON CITY – Another Lake Mills man came to town and caused trouble, this time involving a car crash and an adventure into the cold night.

On Monday, December 12, 2016, at approximately 11:14 PM, Cerro Gordo deputies responded to the 1000 block of 255th Street for a single vehicle collision. The driver, 38-year-old Robert Charles Anderson of Lake Mills, was driving a 2006 Ford Taurus east on 255th Steet when it abruptly veered off the road into the north ditch. The vehicle came to a stop after striking a mailbox, address marker, and electrical pole. Anderson fled the scene on foot, but was later found near the scene of the accident. Anderson did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle is a total loss. Property damage sustained is estimated around $6,000.

Anderson was arrested for driving while license suspended, fail to file SR-22, fail to maintain control, striking fixtures upon a highway, failure to wear/maintain safety belt, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Anderson was convicted of meth possession in Cerro Gordo county in 2015.
