Mother of child left stranded in Wright county arrested

CLARION, IOWA – The mother of a stranded two-year-old child left outside in the rain wearing only pajamas and no shoes is now facing a felony and has been arrested.

Ysable Ceplecha, 24, of Eagle Grove has been charged with Neglect or Abandonment of a Dependent Person, based on the investigation conducted by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office  related to the two-year-old girl who was found outside in the rain in Galt on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. At the time she was found, the child was wearing only pajamas and no shoes.

With the help of the public, the child was quickly identified and authorities made contact with Ceplecha. During that contact, law enforcement also took Ceplecha’s one-year-old child into protective custody and both children were placed in the care of the Iowa Department of Human Services.

Ceplecha’s charge is a Class C Felony and she is currently being held in the Wright County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
