MASON CITY – A Mason City woman left a store without paying for merchandise and police tracked her down.
Officers were dispatched to Dollar General, 305 North Federal Avenue, on Wednesday, November 23 for a shoplifter who left the store. Officers soon located the subject, 44-year-old Tracy Ann Muth of Mason City but formerly of Forest City, and arrested her for third-degree theft and drug possession charges, as well as a warrant our of Kossuth county. She was guilty in that county earlier this year of fourth-degree theft after facing a felony second-degree theft charge. She’s supposed to serve a jail sentence there, but couldn’t be located.
Muth was jailed and soon released, pending a court date.
Muth was charged with third-degree theft by Mason City police back on November 11, 2015. On February 5, Muth pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of fifth-degree theft. Later, Muth was sentenced to 4 days in jail and taken to the Cerro Gordo Law Enforcement Center to serve her sentence. She’s also been caught stealing in Black Hawk county.
