Cyclone women add 5-star recruit Madison Wise to 2017 recruiting class

logo_iowa_state_cyclonesAMES, IOWA – The Iowa State women’s basketball program and head coach Bill Fennelly announced Thursday an addition to the 2017 signing class, as Madison Wise signed her National Letter of Intent to play for the Cyclones. With the signing of Wise, Iowa State now has three commitments in its 2017 class with Rae Johnson and Kristen Scott, who both hail from Minnesota.

“We finished our 2017 class by adding Maddie Wise, and I could not be more excited about the players, people and families that are now Cyclones,” Fennelly said. Maddie is a dynamic athlete who has the skills and versatility to play all over the floor. She has been very well coached and is ultra-competitive which will help her move to the next level and impact our team immediately. I know our fans will love watching her play in a Cyclone uniform next season.”

Wise, a 6-1 forward from Greenfield, Indiana, is rated a five-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz and the No. 45 overall prospect in the 2017 class. Wise averaged 22.7 points and 10.4 rebounds as a junior. She also owns school records in career rebounds and blocked shots. In the 2016-17 season, Wise is averaging 29.0 points and 10.7 rebounds. She also earned IBCA Player of the Week honors after scoring a school record 42 points in a game.

With Wise’s signing, the Cyclones – currently listed as the 27th-ranked recruiting class by ProspectsNation.com—are expected to move into the top-25.
