IOWA CITY – The Michigan Wolverines are no longer a pushover on the gridiron and, apparently emboldened by their success, re-decorated the pink visitor locker room at Kinnick Stadium before their game against Iowa.
Painted pink at the request of legendary former coach Hayden Fry – hoping for an advantage as he attempted to turn the program around in the late 1970’s, visiting teams who venture to Kinnick Stadium must prep for the game in an effeminate locker room area – a subject of controversy over the years.
However, the third-ranked Wolverines (9-0) were having none of it before their night-game matchup with the struggling Hawkeyes (5-4) – a team that Michigan lost to the last time they faced off in 2013.
The Michigan equipment staff tweeted out before the game Michigan Equipment that they were making themselves “Right at home” as they apparentvly taped Michigan banners and posters all over the locker room walls. Nary a scrap pf pink wall space was visible.
The Iowa Athletic Department didn’t have an immediate response.
