LE MARS, IOWA – DNR staff from the Spencer field office are en route to a manure spill about 3 miles southeast of Le Mars in Plymouth County.

About 1 p.m., November 10, DNR received notice that a semi-tanker had rolled over and was leaking manure into a small unnamed stream. An estimated 8,900 gallons of manure is being released.

The Oyens fire department is on site. Dan Niles from Dan Niles Pit Pumping is working to berm the area and pump up manure still in the tanker.

The manure is from Tom Langel’s swine finishing operation.

DNR will provide advice and monitor cleanup, and consider appropriate enforcement action.
