Mason City woman convicted of drunk driving last year but avoids jail for months

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was caught and convicted of drunk driving last year, but evaded jail for months.

On September 12, 2015, at 12:53 AM, 30-year-old Valerie Nicole Merrideth was stopped by Mason City police in the 1900 block of South Federal. As a result of the stop and investigation, she was arrested for first-offense operating while intoxicated, driving while suspended, and no insurance.

In December of 2015, Merrideth pled guilty to the drunk diving charge while the other charges were tossed in the deal. She was allowed to complete a drunk driving program instead of spend two days in jail. However, Merrideth apparently never completed the program, and by April, the courts had noticed. A warrant was later issued for her arrest. Mason City police finally caught up with her on the evening of Saturday, October 29, when they located and caught her at 702 North Delaware Avenue.

Merrideth was taken to the county jail, where she served out her two day sentence. She must also pay $2,242.58 in fines and court fees and lose her driver’s license.

Also this summer, Merrideth was guilty of providing false information to police and was ordered to pay $147.75 in fines and court fees.

Merrideth was charged with assault, unlawful assembly, disorderly conduct / fighting or violent behavior and public intoxication back in 2014 in connection to the infamous “Melee on Monroe” incident in which police responded to altercations that encompassed a number of city blocks. On August 6, 2014, emergency calls reported men and women arguing and pushing each other in the liquor store parking lot at 1st NW and North Monroe Avenue. Officers and deputies responded and made a number of arrests in a several-block area as other confrontations flared that night. Merrideth later pled guilty to disorderly conduct / fighting or violent behavior and public intoxication and was sent to jail for two days on each count. She was also ordered to pay $230.00 in court costs and fees.  She hasn’t paid the bill in full, yet.

LVS could tell that his parents didn’t respect him, his bath toys were a toaster and a radio.
LVS comes from a stupid family. During the civil war his great-great Grandfather fought for the west
LVS’s uncle’s dying wish was to have LVS sitting on his lap, he was in the electric chair.
